Archaeopter Stratoraptor
Sky-Predator of the Cult Mechanicus
The Archaeopter Stratoraptor is a sky-hunter gunship of the Cult Mechanicus, recovered from incomplete blueprint-relics and reconsecrated by tech-priests across multiple [[forge-worlds]]. Its three-ringed contra-rotor propulsion descends from [[dark-age-technology]] designs, granting the craft a hovering agility that no orthodox aircraft of the [[astra-militarum]] can match. The pilot-priest is interlinked with the airframe through a permanent MIU socket grafted at the base of his skull, the Archaeopter's machine spirit reading his every breath as throttle input. Each gunship hull bears a mosaic of brass cogs, hexagonal sigils and dataloom inscriptions that the Cult Mechanicus considers as much weapon-system as decoration. The Stratoraptor pattern is the dedicated air-superiority variant, mounting twin lascannons in chin emplacements, a Cognis heavy stubber in the dorsal turret, and a light missile launcher beneath each wing-rotor housing. Its lascannons are slaved to a predictive intercept cogitator that tracks fast-movers across three dimensions, and binary cant constantly murmurs through the cockpit as the airframe negotiates with its own machine spirit for ever-tighter firing solutions. Stratoraptors are deployed in pairs to clear airspace ahead of Mechanicus advances, hunting strike-craft, gunships and skimmers with cold patience.

Tactical Role
Stratoraptors sweep airspace ahead of advancing Mechanicus columns and allied forces, intercepting strike-craft and dive-bombers before they can engage softer ground targets. Their lascannons also engage skimmer-class hover vehicles with high lethality, making them dangerous to xenos grav-armour as well.
