Orikan the Diviner is the greatest astromancer the Necrons species has ever produced — a Cryptek of such extraordinary intellect and mastery over the fabric of space-time that he can perceive the future with a clarity that borders on omniscience. In a civilization of beings whose technological capabilities already surpass anything the younger races of the galaxy can comprehend, Orikan stands apart as a figure of singular brilliance, a scientist-sorcerer whose understanding of temporal mechanics allows him to manipulate the flow of time itself. He has calculated the fall of empires centuries before they occurred, predicted the exact trajectory of celestial bodies with a precision that defies the laws of probability, and on more than one occasion has appeared to travel backward through time to alter events that have already taken place — though whether this represents genuine temporal displacement or merely the product of calculations so precise that they allow perfect anticipation of future events is a question that even Orikan's fellow Crypteks cannot definitively answer.

The Crypteks of the Necron civilization occupy a role analogous to both scientists and priests — keepers of arcane technological knowledge that forms the foundation of Necron power. They are organized into various disciplines, each focused on a different aspect of the physical universe: Plasmancers who manipulate energy, Technomancers who control machines, Psychomancers who influence minds, and Chronomancers who bend time. Orikan is the undisputed master of Chronomancy, his abilities so far beyond those of any other practitioner that the discipline might as well have been invented for him alone. His astromantic calculations — complex mathematical models that map the interaction of celestial bodies, energy fields, and temporal currents — allow him to perceive the future not as a vague premonition but as a concrete, detailed prediction of events that will occur with mathematical certainty.

Orikan's personality is as formidable as his abilities. He is supremely arrogant, dismissive of virtually everyone around him — including Necron Overlords and Phaerons whose political power vastly exceeds his own — and possessed of a conviction of his own superiority that is only partially justified by his genuine genius. He views the younger races with a contempt that borders on disinterest, considering their brief lifespans and primitive understanding of the universe to be beneath his notice. Even among his fellow Necrons, he is regarded as difficult, temperamental, and maddeningly condescending, though his undeniable value as a strategic asset ensures that his eccentricities are tolerated by those who might otherwise find them insufferable.

His most notable personal relationship is his bitter, centuries-long rivalry with Trazyn the Infinite, a feud that has become legendary throughout Necron civilization. The two despise each other with a passion that transcends mere professional disagreement — Trazyn considers Orikan a pompous fraud whose predictions are no more reliable than educated guesses, while Orikan views Trazyn as an intellectually bankrupt hoarder whose obsessive collecting represents the worst possible use of a Necron's immortal existence. Their conflicts have ranged from petty sabotage to outright warfare, with each delighting in undermining the other's plans and reputation at every opportunity.
